This was the day of traveling between Oslo and Stockholm.  Part of the morning was getting out of the Anker Hostel. I’m not going to miss the hostel, but I did like the people I met there.  The place was a real dump and in a not-so-nice part of town. I would not want to be out in that neighborhood in summer after the sun goes down. Even in the winter I still saw a couple of dicey drug deals.

The rest of the day in Oslo was really just walking around. I was smart enough to lock the stuff at the train station.  It is a lot nicer not walking around with all that stuff. I could have left it at the hostel. But that place wasn’t the type of place that has any kind of security.  My shit prob would have been missing or rifled through before I got back. Plus I didn’t really want to travel through that area again with the sketch that was around there.

Trefoldighetskirken, is one of the places that I just wandered onto. It is very close to where part of the  22 July attacks happened. I visited the outside memorial, it was moving. Also nearby is one of the largest and coolest libraries that I have ever been to.  I also visited the Oslo Cathedral. Plopped in the center of town now.

I was thinking ahead enough to know where the train was leaving from.  But even then it got to about 20 minutes before it was going to leave before it showed up at the station.

The train ended up being about half full.  I got a seat next to a guy from the middle east.  Didn’t really have a huge conversation with him, but he was a nice polite guy.  I helped to make sure that he got off at the right stop.

The train ride was long.  But it was smooth. Half the time you couldn’t even tell you were moving.  It did go a lot faster than the nearly 6 hours that it was. Finished a book about an hour into the ride.  Looked at the news, but mostly just meditated.

Getting into Stockholm was easy.  Even if I did look like a really confused tourist for the first 10 minutes that I got out of the station door, trying to find the right direction on my phone. I would have mugged myself just for the sheer comedy of the act.  Or a good trip on the curb while looking at the phone should also have been in order.

Once I got my shit together, I was at the Generator Hostel after about 15 minutes it wasn’t a far walk once the fuck you knew what you were doing. This place looks a bit more like a party hostel.

Got in late, turned on the red headlamp, and snuck into bed.  Hope I wasn’t that guy at least. I know I had enough of that the past few nights.

Didn’t gather much from the first impression.  Felt like it was a full house.
